Tonight we all just worked on our work books, contact sheets and some photos on CS5. No college for the next 2 weeks as its Easter holidays, this means I have 1 month to finish my book and complete my Project. In the book I have to write about 2 photographers who inspire me and evaluate myself on how I think I've improved since I started college last September.
This evening we covered Depth of Field in class. we brought items in and practiced blurring out the background and foregrounds using a wide aperture and focusing in manual to get the desired effect.
We also tried different apertures to see how the Depth of Field alter in each image.
This evening we covered different styles of photography, we looked at Documentary, Fashion, Journalism, Landscape, Portrait and a few other. Roger talked about a few famous photographers and showed us some of their work. We will have to write about a photographer who we like and what we like about their work by the end of April to go into our work books.
This week we used torches to paint with light setting our cameras to 30 secs and while the shutter is open we took turns to paint out our names. Once we had mastered this we used different coloured gels to highlight objects which we fetched in and each other. Overall we managed to catch some good effects on camera. One of the best photographers who has got this down to a fine art is Troy Paiva check his website here, well worth a look http://lostamerica.com/
